With the current situation in 2016 concerning travel to and from the Red Sea area I wonder if divers are still going there? Would you travel there with the threat of bombers and terrorists? I might, but would you?
I have a friend who has made the journey and arrived safely to Hurghada and returned. She did indeed have a wonderful time. Not least because she has never been before but also because I know ‘the Brothers’ is a fabulous dive site and her live-aboard boat trip included photography tuition which she loved. There will probably be a continued threat until the world changes. But l would go back there and dive again, the sooner the better! Sea temperatures can be quite low from October – April so if you like warm water wait until the hotter summer months May – October to go. 17˙- 30˙C.
Roots Camp which is about 2 hours drive south of Hurghada can offer very reasonable accommodation close to the shore where the diving is excellent. Reefs are healthy and there is a lot of marine life. The reef close by are also a must see. I would recommend this dive spot and you can travel there on a package with Scuba Travel. The area does not seem so threatened by activists so perhaps a safer bet.
