Excellent dive destination
Overview: I loved the diving here, lots of colour and life. Dive centres are all in great locations and Ecodive Grenada which l used were excellent and very busy. Grenada is a beautiful island with mountains and waterfalls and a rich culture. I would highly recommend a visit. There are a number of good wrecks, the Bianca C is deep at 95′-150′, l would recommend Veronica though.
Fish Life: There is abundant fish life here and most notably there lots of Yellow Snappers on many of the reefs. This is unusual because they are a very tasty fish and locals love to catch them. Some reefs, purple rain, happy valley, were simply drenched in chromes and creole wrasse. Barracuda, Cero, Jacks, Eagle rays, Turtles, Eels and Lobster were on many dives.
Reef Health: Most of the reefs were very healthy with only a few of the flatter reefs off Grand Anse Bay were a little tired and broken up. There were almost forests of soft corals in many areas in the bay, beautiful to swim through. Lots of hard, soft and black corals. Yellow, red, purple sponges and iridescent vase sponge which is so beautiful.
Highlights: Diving along the wall at Happy Valley and finding one vase sponge after another. I would ask to be dropped in 50 meters from where they usually do because the best reef is much further along. A photographers heaven! Plus you must dive the Veronica at night the entire port side it bright yellow!
Dive Centre/Boat Service: I dived with Eco Dive Grenada which is located at the Coyaba Beach resort on Grand Anse Bay and run by Chrissie. They had a fast comfortable boat which was easy to get onto. They take good care of all divers and especially photographic equipment. I dived mainly with 2 instructors Ron and Simon, l would highly recommend them both.
First Time/Return: This was my 3rd time here but possibly my best. The 1st was over 20 years ago. I would go back again.
Current/Vis: I did not encounter much current. But there can be current on the Bianca C which is a site that is further out. Vis was from 50′ to 80′. Like anywhere it can vary.
Favourite dive site: Happy Valley: excellent reef full of colour and life/wall, vase sponge, black coral, Green Eel. Purple Rain: Fab sea fans/gorgonias, lots of creole wrasse like rain! Veronica wreck: great photo opps, 120′ long, good coral growth lots of fish.
Marine Park: Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park
